RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR THE
SUSSEX COUNTY SCIENCE FAIR (SCSF)

INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW:

The rules in effect at the SCSF are the same rules used by the Delaware Valley Science Fair (DVSF) as well as the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). For the vast majority of projects that compete at the SCSF level, the following list of rules will assist the students, teachers and sponsors in preparing their science fair projects. It will also make them aware of some of the paperwork that needs to be completed to enter a project in the SCSF. Topics that are not fully covered in the rules and guideline section:

• Review Boards
• Use of Human Participants
• Use of Vertebrates and Animals
• Rules for Projects Conducted in a Regulated Research Institution
• Potentially Hazardous Biological Agents and Unknown Microorganisms
• Projects Involving Tissues, Body Fluids, Blood and Blood Products
• Hazardous Chemicals and Devices

If your science fair project involves any of the above topics, please refer to the following website (www.societyforscience.org) for a complete list of rules that need to be followed as well as forms that are required to be completed prior to entering your project at the SCSF:
